'Varsity Blues' Filmmakers Paid $500,000 for AC/DC's 'Thunderstruck'

When you hear a famous song in a movie, somebody gets paid.

When AC/DC's Thunderstruck was used in the high school football movie Varsity Blues, the filmmakers paid a lot.

In a video for Variety, Thomas Golubic shared that the AC/DC classic was the most expensive song he ever used in a movie.  Golubic's job is to place songs into movies and television shows.

Thunderstruck was licensed for $500,000.

Golubic says, "I remember being absolutely horrified when I heard that number."

See the interview below.

Also, watch the actual clip.  Thunderstruck is used during the "playing hungover" scene.
